  • Wrap Around Child Care

    Wed 11 Sep 2019 K Whitehead

    Dear Parents and Carers,

As you know the school currently runs a breakfast club from 8.00am until school start time. For a while now we have been looking at ways to create a child care offer that would help more families from the school site.

We have been in discussions with Energy Kidz for some time about them coming in as specialists to run our breakfast club and start up an after school club from our site.

It has recently been decided that the school will retain the breakfast club and also set up an After School Club. Both will be managed by school staff and all our own safeguarding and behaviour policies would apply throughout.

There will need to be an increase to the price of breakfast club. For a number of years the pricing has not been changed to reflect the increasing costs of staffing and resources etc. It is likely that the price of breakfast club will be increased so the school is no longer running it at a loss. We hope that families realise this is the only realistic way of continuation and continue to benefit from this service.

A large amount of work will be put in over the next two weeks to plan for opening the after school club. We are currently working hard on pricing, booking systems, recruitment and policies with a view to opening on 4th November.

Please bear with us while we do everything we can to make wrap around childcare a success.

I will write again once we have made a decision about pricing for both and how you can book and pay for sessions.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

    Mrs A Halley

    Headteacher.

  • Aldi Kit for Schools Stickers

    Sat 07 Sep 2019 K Whitehead

Aldi’s 'Kit for Schools' competition is giving 20 primary schools the chance to win £20,000 to kick-start a health legacy for their school. We have registered to enter this competition. Every time you spend £30 at Aldi, you’ll receive a Team GB sticker, spend £60 and receive 2 stickers, etc. Once we have collected 300 stickers on a special poster, we will receive an exclusive Aldi sports kit and the chance to win one of twenty £20,000 prizes.

So please start collecting your stickers and bring them into school. Ask your family and friends to collect them for you too!

  • The Real Junk Food Project

    Fri 06 Sep 2019 K Whitehead
We are excited to be starting The Real Junk Food Project at our school. This scheme is being rolled out across many schools in West Yorkshire. Every Thursday we will be receiving four crates of food. This food will include items that supermarkets are no longer allowed to sell due to a number of reasons including damaged boxes, wonky veg and just passed the sell-by dates. The bread has been frozen and defrosted on it's way to us so it is fresh. The products are all edible.
We are going to hold a market each Thursday at 3:00pm where you can come and buy products for a donation to the school fund. We will not be putting a price on the food, it will be run as an honesty market - you pay as you feel. The money raised will go back into our school funds.

I look forward to seeing you at the market next week (Mrs Shires).

  • Parents’ Welcome

    Mon 02 Sep 2019 K Whitehead
Welcome back to all our children and parents.

School starts on Tuesday 3rd September at 8:50am.

Breakfast club this half term starts at 8:00am.

Foundation Stage children, please meet in the Foundation Stage playground outside the green shutters. Can I remind parents to keep their children close by and not to play on any school equipment before school.

KS1 children will enter their new classrooms via their own doors. At hometime KS1 children should wait for brothers and sisters in the Junior playground and stay close to their parents. Could parents be aware so they don't climb on walls, fences or school equipment.

KS2 children will meet on the junior playgrounds and line up at the bell. Year 5 and 6 should meet in the ball court and Year 3 and Year 4 will meet in the Junior playground outside the hall doors.

Please remember all payments for breakfast clubs, dinners, trips etc are taken via the ParentPay website and not through the office.

Lastly could parents please write their child's name on labels as soon as possible.
