Welcome back to school everyone! Mrs Fawcett and Mrs Ellis are so excited to start a new year with you all. We just wanted to share a few details with you so that you know what is happening.
Swimming lessons will be on a Thursday afternoon for the whole of year 5. Please make sure you bring a towel and a suitable swimming costume. Please make sure these are in a separate bag so that they don’t damage anything in your school bag. The swimming pool does not allow any jewellery so please be prepared to remove it at school or not wear it that day.
Rowan class, your second PE session is on Tuesday afternoon. Please makes sure you bring your kit to change into.
Spelling tests will be on a Monday morning and the new spellings will be given on the same day. Please make sure you practise these in your green spelling books.
English and Maths homework will be given on a Friday and will be expected back to school the following Friday.
Mathletics and Edshed work will be set as usual, and the passwords will be sent out shortly. Year 5 would like to keep winning these trophies, so let’s try our best!
Everyone is expected to read 3 times a week and we will be continuing our reading raffle.
On Tuesday dinnertime there will be a homework club for anyone who needs additional help or use of the schools ICT equipment. Our ‘Knit and Natter’ group will be starting shortly on a first come basis, which was a great success last year.
Here’s to a great year together everyone!
The children in 1 Ash and 5 Rowan were really excited to start Paired Reading this week. Each child has a Reading Buddy who they will read with each week. They can't wait until next Monday!
The children are doing a DT project about making festive biscuits so they were doing some market research about biscuits.
There are also pictures of our stamina writing and the boys friendship group.
These are postcards that we sent to all the staff at Pinderfields to say thank you.
In science we have been investigating Martian soil samples. We had great fun!
We have been busy doing some VIPER work in reading, doing independent reading in the reading corner and children doing their science work on the moon.
Our Year 5 students have been busy! One has done extra science homework on planets and one has printed and made a 3D model of the moon.
One of our Year 5 children has grown a pumpkin in his allotment.
Children identifying and ordering the planets.
Children using dictionaries to answer key vocabulary in their VIPERS work.
