On Sunday 24th March, 2024 at 10.30am, Wakefield Hospice are holding a 1K family-friendly Fun Run which starts and finishes in Thornes Park. Local school pupils are encouraged to enter.
Any school whose pupils collectively raise over £250 will be entered into a special draw to win £1,000 of sports equipment for their school.
There is also a £100 voucher up for grabs for one lucky child who enters the Fun Run.

On Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th February at the Ridings Shopping Centre in Wakefield. there will be a family friendly comic con, giving people the chance to meet different characters from popular tv and film franchises, purchase merchandise or pose for photos with the visiting characters and prop backdrops. For all those budding superheroes, princesses or villains there will be a cosplay (fancy dress) competition with prizes for the best outfit and the best part is that it is absolutely FREE!

Please see the link below for a free kids Half Term downloadable Activity pack. It is full of fun activities such as making a jam jar xylophone, becoming an animal track detective, making an egg box bird feeder along with activities for Pancake Tuesday and Valentine's Day.
The pack is aimed at primary school children with help as necessary from their parents or carers, and older children may enjoy some of the activities too.
