Wakefield Schools Climate Walk

Our school is taking part in a Climate Walk which runs between 7th - 20th June. The walk is being organised in conjunction with a government petition which will commit to all schools being zero carbon by 2030. During the walk, local schools will be passing on a wooden relay baton. The walk will take place over a number of days with a number of schools involved - our day will be Friday 16th June. A number of our Y6 children will be taking part.

Look North news programme and the Wakefield Express will also be covering the event.

The aim of the climate walk is to promote awareness of a governent petition. The Government's sustainability and climate change strategy for the education and children’s services systems sets out the Government's vision for "the UK to be the world-leading education sector in this area by 2030". As part of this there is an aim for emissions from education to be reduced and for children to have opportunities to engage practically in the transition to 'net zero'.

We are encouraging all parents to sign the petition. It will only take a minute or two and you can do it via the link here
